This is an opportunity to work with a highly collaborative team driven to produce exceptional content that informs millions of readers. On a typical day, you’ll help craft compelling content for audiences as diverse as health & beauty, home services, luxury goods, travel, and more. This is an opportunity to work on a range of topics for owned properties and external partnerships. You’ll work closely with the Head of Agency Services and a team of writers and editors to manage content production and ensure a level of high quality for our SEO and marketing goals. The Managing Editor role is client facing and supports the Relationship Manager in account management including duties such as client communications, presenting work, and managing edits from clients. The ideal candidate is process oriented, organized, has a competitive spirit and brings a strong work ethic every day. 

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and manage freelance writers and editors who will create high-quality content 
  • Partner with the SEO team on content calendar planning and creating article briefs to integrate SEO best practices into content
  • Assign, edit, and publish content according to the specific editorial standards of our brands using Asana as the project management platform
  • Translate client brand standards into editorial guidelines
  • Oversee proofreading procedures and write or edit copy when necessary
  • Assist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance with policies, style and tone
  • Collaborate with writers, other editors, and external reviewers to move each piece through the editorial workflow
  • Manage publication timelines and adjust priorities as needed based on stakeholder needs including enforcing deadlines.
  • Provide ongoing support for updating and improving existing content, particularly to better impact SEO performance 
  • Be responsible for hitting monthly publication and traffic goals
  • Monitor and optimize performance to meet traffic, engagement and growth targets
  • Analyze performance metrics across properties to quantify results

We Are Looking For…

  • Bachelor’s degree (journalism, communications, English or related fields)
  • At least 5 year of editing experience or 2-3 years relevant management experience (preferably for a digital publication or marketing agency)
  • Experience creating or editing content based on SEO concepts and best practices
  • Deep interest in content organization and research
  • Excellent skills in meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects, and prioritizing tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with a team
  • Additional consideration given if you have experience working with:
    • Google suite
    • WordPress
    • Asana
    • Slack
    • SEO tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a default mindset to take initiative 
  • High energy team player, competitive personality with a drive to win
  • Prior agency or publisher experience
